One of them was partitioning a part of the SSD so it would run faster.I plan on using a live USB of Linux Mint I have and using gparted to expand the OS partition.I wonder if this was a deliberate move to make their SSDs wear out faster, since overprovisioning is meant to help mitigate write amplification.Just backpeddling on it is not longer an option without third party software.

No more overprovisioning, I now have 10 of the drive just sitting as unallocated space (is this the same as OP). Also, no more adjusting system setting automatically for maximum performance with one click. At least it prompted me to update my intel RST version, but I dont know if that actually did anything. Although if you need more space and that SSD is more read than write, say game SSD, you can get away with 5 level 1 2 points 3 years ago If anyone wants to role back to v4.9.5, Ill upload my copy and post a link. Just comment. level 2 1 point 3 years ago Hey man, I looked up Samsung Magician v5.0 reddit and this thread came out. Do you still have that old version Will it fix the unallocated space I used before for overprovisioning Continue this thread level 1 2 points 3 years ago People that asking about OP, OP is just Unalocated space thats it. Samsung usually puts away 10, although with drives with more read than writes, like say video game SSD that get game installs here and there but daily reads from game loading can easily get away with 5 to recover more space.
